The Friends of Burgess Hill Green Circle Network (a registered charity) manage and improve Green Circle sites on behalf of the landowners for the benefit of wildlife and for the enjoyment and education of the whole community. The group carry out conservation work and wildlife surveys, as well as organising open air events, guided walks and talks and the annual Children’s Safari.

Much of the work takes place at Bedelands Farm Local Nature Reserve – at over 30 hectares it is the largest and most diverse open space in Burgess Hill. With seven wildflower meadows, including the Coronation Meadow for West Sussex, ancient woodland and several ponds, it requires constant maintenance to keep its footpaths clear for the public as well as monitoring and improving habitats for resident wildlife.

The Friends run many events throughout the year, including Wild about Mid Sussex, the Children’s Wildlife Safari, guided walks and evening talks. A number of free children’s holiday activities are also run during the Summer.
